overcompensating time
Oh hey again, I will have a real strip up by tomorrow, but for now the deal is that I did a guest strip for Overcompensating!

Fun Facts:
-On likenesses - I think I could have done a more accurate JRo, but by the time the pencils were solid enough to ink I was too burnt out to risk altering anything. Weedmaster P has no referent in real life, so he was a challenge, but I think he came out alright. The genie is based on Warren Ellis, but I completely lost my head of steam on that idea halfway through and ended up with a rather loose approximation (although I'm confident that under all the sinister overcoats, he is exactly that ripped).
-It's been a long time coming--with this strip I figured how to do tones exactly the way I've always wanted to do them. Being unable to do them properly had always frustrated me, and even though the new way takes 3-4 times as long as the old way, it's worth it.
-Oh yes the "proper" method consists of just inking in the areas to-be-toned on the back of the paper with a brush and q-tip, scanning, flipping the tones, pasting them into the line art file, adjusting layer opacities and then turning them into halftones and magic-wanding the white areas out. I'm a doofus for not figuring this out earlier, but I was very set on the idea of needing a tablet to do right by tones.
-Reading through the Wigu and Overcompensating archives was the initial thing to get me really excited about making webcomics. This is the logical conclusion of my career as an artist.
-Just kidding.

ALSO: There is this "draw fellow webcartoonists" thing a-goin' on and I am now involved. Involved on the left.

Lem---beware. This goes for several others as well.

Well I think he's an amalgam of several alphanumeric Weedmasters.

They don't show up very well in the final image, but the squalor mostly consists of beer cans and used tampons.
